How to Restore a Deleted Google Workspace User

Quick and easy-to-follow guide for Google Workspace administrators

When you can restore a deleted Google Workspace user

  • You can restore users deleted in the last 20 days.

When you can’t restore a user

  • When you delete a user and 20 days pass, all user data is gone forever and even the Google Workspace support team can’t help you recover it.
  • When the deleted user’s email address has been added to Google Workspace again as a new user, alias, or group. In this case, you need to remove the email address so that it doesn’t exist as a user, alias, or group in Google Admin.

Restoring a user’s data and service access

  • All data owned by the user should get restored within 1 hour, but it can take longer depending on the amount of data to be processed.
  • Access to services usually gets re-enabled right away, and you don’t need to wait.
