How to Prevent Google Workspace Users on iOS Devices From Printing With AirPrint

Quick and easy-to-follow guide for Google Workspace administrators

You can allow or prevent devices from using AirPrint. If you allow it, you can enable these additional features:

Allow iBeacons to find AirPrint printers
Allow Keychain to store AirPrint credentials
Allow AirPrint connections with untrusted certificates

Requirements to control if iOS users can print with AirPrint and update its features

This setting requires Advanced iOS Mobile Management and an Apple Push Certificate, and it only applies to company-owned devices.
It applies only to users with Google Workspace Enterprise Plus, G Suite Enterprise for Education, or Cloud Identity Premium licenses.

How to allow or disable using iOS AirPrint step-by-step with images

Step 1

In Google Admin at https://admin.google.com, click Devices > Mobile & endpoints > Settings > iOS settings in the menu on the left.

Step 2

Click Connections.

Step 3

Click Print settings.

Step 4

Uncheck the Allow iBeacons to find AirPrint printers box to prevent phishing attacks through AirPrint Bluetooth beacons. Devices will still be able to detect AirPrint printers on the same Wi-Fi network.

Uncheck Allow Keychain to store AirPrint credentials to prevent Keychain from storing the username and password for AirPrint.

Uncheck Allow AirPrint connections with untrusted certificate to require a trusted certificate for TLS printing.

Click SAVE. Changes may take up to 24 hours to take effect on mobile devices.
