In this case, the site’s full address is https://sites.google.com/superadminhelper.com/example.

Step 9

How To Connect A Google Sites Website To Your Domain Name Web Address (Website Mapping) - Step 9

In the Google Workspace Admin console settings, enter the full web address without the https:// in front and click CONTINUE.

Step 10

How To Connect A Google Sites Website To Your Domain Name Web Address (Website Mapping) - Step 10

Type a subdomain in front of your main domain and click CONTINUE. We recommend using “www” as your subdomain.

Later, you will configure your site to be displayed at the naked domain, which in this example is just superadminhelper.com, without the www subdomain in front.

Step 11

How To Connect A Google Sites Website To Your Domain Name Web Address (Website Mapping) - Step 11

Google tells you what you need to do to get your site to show up at the www.domain URL. Click ADD CUSTOM URL and then follow these steps. Check below for an example of what you need to do.

Step 12

How To Connect A Google Sites Website To Your Domain Name Web Address (Website Mapping) - Step 12

The steps may differ depending on your hosting provider. Still, the general idea is that you need to add a CNAME record that points www.yourdomain to ghs.googlehosted.com in your domain’s DNS settings at the hosting provider.

If you’re not sure how to do this, you can search Google for “add cname –hosting name–”. Alternatively, contact the hosting’s support team for assistance.

In this example, this is how adding the record looks. After you’ve saved the record at your hosting provider, it may take up to 24 hours before you can access your site at www.yourdomain

The next step is to set up a redirect from www.yourdomain to yourdomain for everyone to access it more easily. No one likes to type www.

Step 13

How To Remove A Domain From Your Google Workspace Account - Step 1

In the Admin console at https://admin.google.com, click Manage domains under Domains.

Step 14

How To Connect A Google Sites Website To Your Domain Name Web Address (Website Mapping) - Step 12

To the right of your primary domain, under Actions, click the Change redirect link.

Step 15

How To Connect A Google Sites Website To Your Domain Name Web Address (Website Mapping) - Step 13

Type www and click SAVE.

Step 16

How To Connect A Google Sites Website To Your Domain Name Web Address (Website Mapping) - Step 14

Again, Google tells you what you need to do to get your domain to redirect.

Now you need to update your A records at the hosting provider. First, remove any already existing A records in your DNS settings and then add four records pointing to these IP addresses:

  • 216.239.32.21
  • 216.239.34.21
  • 216.239.36.21
  • 216.239.38.21

You can click I’VE COMPLETED THESE STEPS now and add the records later; it doesn’t make any difference.

Step 17

How To Connect A Google Sites Website To Your Domain Name Web Address (Website Mapping) - Step 15

Here is how adding the records may look. It’s the same as with the CNAME.

You can look for a step-by-step guide on Google Search or contact your hosting provider’s support team for assistance with adding the records.

Note that it may take up to 24 hours after adding and saving the records before your domain starts redirecting.
