Control if Users Can Chat With External People
Control users’ ability to send chat messages to people outside of your account.
In Google Chat https://chat.google.com, bots provide a way for you to connect to other services via Google Chat messages sent directly to another user or in a chat room, such as looking up information or doing tasks.
Some bots are made by Google, but users in your domain and third parties can also make bots.
When starting a message with or talking to third-party bots, you send your basic information, the message sent to or @ mentioning the bot, and other contextual data to the third party. Review each bot developer’s terms of service and privacy policy for more information about third-party use of your data.
To learn how to create custom bots for your organization, go to the Google Chat API documentation published by Google at https://developers.google.com/hangouts/chat.
In the Admin console at https://admin.google.com, click the Apps icon.
Select Google Workspace.
Click Google Chat and classic Hangouts. Make sure not to check the box to the left; just click the service’s name.
Click the Chat Bots section.
Select ON to allow users to install chat bots and click SAVE. Note that the changes may take up to 24 hours to take effect.
