Making changes to a live public website

  • Anytime you make changes to the site, you need to publish it again to update the site’s live version.
  • Others won’t see any updates you make to the site unless you click Publish.

Open your site in editing mode by double-clicking it in Google Drive at https://drive.google.com or Google Sites at https://sites.google.com/new.

Click the Publish button in the top right.

Review any changes and click Publish settings on the top right.

Specify your web address. By default, your web address will be at https://sites.google.com/yourdomain.com/, and then you type after the last forward slash.

You can also publish your site right on your domain name at https://yourdomain.com – however, only a Google Workspace admin can do it, as shown here.

To prevent others from finding your site via search engines such as Google, check the box Request public search engines not to display my site.

Click Save when you’re ready.
