Preview How Your Site Looks on Different Screens
Check your site out from a regular visitor’s point of view and see how your site would look on a phone, tablet, or a large screen.
Working on a site with someone else is easy with Google Sites. You can even collaborate in real time.
To grant someone access to view or edit your site, open your site in editing mode by double-clicking it in Google Drive at https://drive.google.com or Google Sites at https://sites.google.com/new.
Then click the Share with others icon in the top right.
You can add people and groups directly under Share with people and groups. Alternatively, you can share by link.
We’ll cover sharing directly first and then move on to sharing by link.
Add anyone you want to edit the site by typing their email address or name in the Add people and groups search bar.
People in your Contacts list at https://contacts.google.com get suggested automatically – in this case, you can click them to add them without typing their full email address.
After adding someone, you can still add more people or groups there.
Then check the Notify people box to send an email notification to let people know you’ve shared something with them.
You can type text into the Message box to add a note to the standard notification message.
Click the access level to the right to select between granting Published Viewer or Editor access.
Published viewers can only see published content, while editors can also edit.
Click Share with people settings in the top right to modify editors’ permissions.
Here you can prevent editors from publishing, changing permissions, and granting edit access to others.
There are more settings related to sharing the site using a direct link to it.
Click the Links section below.
Here you can update the Draft and Published site settings.
The draft settings allow you to choose who can access and edit your site if they have the link to it. In this case, they don’t have to be added directly to the sharing settings, as shown above.
If you have set the Draft settings to Organization, click Link settings in the top right.
Uncheck the box to prevent Google Workspace users in your organization from searching and finding the site.
Choose between the following Published site settings:
