Set up a Google Meet Session’s Host Management Controls
Restrict what session participants can do.
While in a meeting in Google Meet at https://meet.google.com, click the Activities icon at the bottom right.
Select Breakout rooms.
Click the Set up breakout rooms icon.
If you click the Timer setting, check the End breakout rooms after a set amount of time box and specify how long you want the breakout rooms to last.
When this time runs out, a 30-second countdown starts before all participants return to the main room.
The breakout rooms settings appear.
You can adjust the number of breakout Rooms, set a Timer, Shuffle participants randomly between rooms, or click Clear to reset the settings to the default.
You can click a breakout room’s name to change it.
Click and drag a meeting participant to move them to another breakout room.
When ready, click Open rooms at the bottom.
Participants that you place into another breakout room receive this notification asking them to join.
When they click Join, they leave the main session and go into the breakout room. If you have set a timer, they can see how much time remains in the banner on top.
They can Ask for help or Return to the main call.
You can click the Activities icon at the bottom right at any time to update breakout room settings and join rooms.
Restrict what session participants can do.
Separate meeting participants into groups with different sub-sessions.
Share your screen with all meeting participants.
You can record Google Meet sessions, including the chat history.
Change your background in a video meeting session.
Enable captions to see subtitles when someone speaks.
Take a look at attachments added to a meeting via Google Calendar.
As a session participant, you can indicate that you are raising your hand if you want to speak.
As a session organizer, you can start a poll and get participants to vote.
As a session organizer, you can ask questions and collect responses.
