How to Enable Shared Labels for a Google Group

You can enable Shared labels for a group.
They function just like labels in Gmail do, allowing you to sort posts within the group.

How to enable shared labels for a Google group step-by-step with images

Step 1

Go to Groups at https://groups.google.com and find the group in one of the directories listed on the left: My groups, Recent groups, All groups, or Favorite groups. Then click the three dots icon to the right and select Group settings.

Step 2

Under Shared labels, check Enable shared labels for this group.

Step 3

Click Save changes at the bottom.

Labeling group posts

To add labels to group posts, click a post in the group.

Now you can see the Labels button above the first post.

You can select multiple posts at once by checking the boxes on the left in the group’s posts list. Then click the Labels button above.

If you have existing labels, you can select them. Otherwise, click Create new label to add one.

Type a name for your label and click Add.

It gets added to the posts you have selected and appears on the left of their titles.

To view posts by labels, click a label under Labels in the menu on the bottom left.

To remove a label, select a post, then click the Labels icon above and uncheck one of the currently applied labels. Current labels appear in a blue checkbox.
