How to Manage External Access to Your Google Workspace Groups

You can choose whether people outside of your Google Workspace account can find groups created within your organization or not.

Step 1

In the Admin console at https://admin.google.com, click the Apps icon.

Step 2

Select Google Workspace.

Step 3

Click Groups for Business. Make sure not to check the box to its left; just click the service.

Step 4

Select Sharing settings.

Step 5

Under Accessing groups from outside this organization, you can select Public on the Internet, which allows anyone to find and view your groups at https://groups.google.com.

Set it to Private to restrict access to external users. You can still manually allow external users to send emails to the group when this option is enabled, as shown here.

Click SAVE. Changes may require up to 24 hours to take effect.
