You can configure plugins such as Java or FlashPlayer for Google Workspace signed in to Google Chrome or anyone using a managed browser.

Step 1

In Google Admin at https://admin.google.com, click Devices > Chrome > Settings >  Users & browsers in the menu on the left.

Select the OU with the users whose settings you want to update on the left. The same updates will apply to all sub-OUs under the OU you choose.

By default, if you don’t select an OU, you will add your setting to the top OU, named after your domain. This way, you will apply changes to all users in your account.

You can search for an OU to find it faster if you have a large OU structure.

Next, click + Search or add a filter and type the name of one of the settings shown below to locate it.

  • Plugins
  • Enabled and disabled plugins
  • Plugin authorization
  • Outdated plugins

Next to Plugins, choose between:

  • Allow the user to decide if plugins can run or not
  • Run plugins automatically
  • Block all plugins


You can always allow or block specific sites from running plugins by adding them to the fields below.

Below, in the Enabled and disabled plugins setting, you can specify the names of plugins that will always be Enabled or Disabled.

Further down, next to Plugin authorization, choose between:

  • Ask for user permission before running plugins that require authorization
  • Always run plugins that require authorization

The Outdated plugins setting lets you choose to:

  • Disallow outdated plugins
  • Allow outdated plugins to be used as normal plugins
  • Ask user for permissions to run outdated plugins

Click SAVE on the top right after making changes. It may take up to 24 hours for them to go into effect.
