What Are the Different Google Calendar Event Types: Quick Introduction
Learn about the different types of events you can create.
In Google Calendar at https://calendar.google.com, click a time slot on the calendar to add an event. For example, click 10 AM on Monday to add an event that starts then.
Right away, you configure the following:
The name of the event
Specify the date, time, and duration
Invite participants to the event
Add Google Meet video conferencing link for quick access to the session
Book rooms and specify the location
Add an event description or attachments
Specify which calendar to add the event to
If this is enough for you, click Save to add the event now.
To access the rest of the settings, click More options at the bottom.
Once you have added Guests and/or Rooms on the right, you can click Find a time to find a suitable time for the event.
You can also specify what the guests can do under Guest permissions – you can allow them to modify the event, invite others or see the guest list.
Another new option is adding reminders by Notification or Email before the event begins.
Additionally, you can configure the visibility settings on this event – click Busy to switch to Free. When you change the privacy settings for an existing event from “Private” to “Public” or the visibility settings from “Busy” to “Free,” the change will apply to your calendar, but not to other event guests’ calendars.
When configuring the privacy settings:
Click Save when ready, and you will see the option to send an email to event guests to notify them of the invite. It’s best always to do this – click Send.
Now you’re looking at all event settings.
