What Editions of Google Workspace Are Available?

Quick and easy-to-follow guide for anyone interested in Google Workspace

Comparing the different Google Workspace editions (subscription plans)

  • Google Workspace offers different subscription plans, which come with different amounts of storage per user and different features.
  • All plans are very similar at their core – 70% of what you can do with each one is the same.
  • All plans include 24/7 support and a 99.9% uptime guarantee.
  • The main differences between the plans are how much storage you get, how many users you can add, and what features you get.

The Google Workspace editions we cover at Workspace123

  • In this guide, we will only focus on the Google Workspace Business Starter, Standard, and Plus plans.
  • At a later time, if there is enough demand, we will also add Enterprise features. Enterprise users can still benefit greatly from our guide, as their plans don’t differ that much from the Business ones.
  • For schools and nonprofit institutions, there are Education and Nonprofits plans. We are not going to focus on these at this time either. They can also benefit from our guide, as their plans don’t differ that much from the Business and Enterprise ones.

What are the different subscription plans in Google Workspace?

  • There are three Business plans, which you can sign up for if you need to create up to 300 managed user accounts.
  • If you need to add more than 300 users, you need to choose one of the three Enterprise plans, which don’t limit the number of users you can add.

Switching Google Workspace plans

  • Switching to any plan is quick and easy and can be done at any time.
  • It doesn’t cause any service disruptions or loss of account data, so you don’t have to worry about that.
  • The only difference you will notice is the gain or loss of access to specific features.

Google Workspace Business plans

  • Business Starter – 30 GB storage per user, comes with all core features. Beginning by signing up on this plan is a safe bet if you’re not sure that you need the extra features that come with higher-tier plans.
  • Business Standard – 2 TB storage per user, comes with extra features.
  • Business Plus – 5 TB storage per user, comes with even more extra features.
  • Click here for a detailed comparison of these three plans.

Google Workspace Enterprise plans

  • Enterprise Essentials – 1 TB storage per user. The main difference between it and the Standard and Plus plans is that it does not include Gmail, Calendar, and Vault. It also lacks in the mobile management department.
  • Enterprise Standard – Unlimited storage. Includes all core services and mobile device management features.
  • Enterprise Plus – Unlimited storage, all services and settings. It is the ultimate plan – nothing is missing. You get access to every single feature that Google Workspace has to offer at this time. Click here to see a list of all features.

Google Workspace Legacy plans

There are three legacy plans that are currently only available for people who signed up when these plans were still being offered. At this time, Google doesn’t offer these plans anymore. They are G Suite Basic, G Suite Business, and G Suite Enterprise.

  • G Suite Basic offers 30 GB of storage per user and access to most admin settings and features.
  • G Suite Business offers unlimited storage if you have 5 or more users and grants you access to features that in some cases are essential, such as Google Vault, Shared Drives, and some admin settings and features that are not available with Basic.
  • G Suite Enterprise also has unlimited storage and provides access to additional security settings and other admin features that are not included in the other versions.

At this point, all accounts that used to be on these plans have been switched over to the new plans.
